Invite Me to Speak

Stories help us understand the strange systems we live inside.

In my writing and teaching, I explore how speculative fiction can illuminate the hidden structures shaping our world—labor, memory, institutions, landscapes, and the human impulse to survive within them. I enjoy speaking with readers, students, and writers about the craft of storytelling, the role of place in fiction, and how strange ideas can help us examine ordinary life in new ways.

I am available for readings, classroom visits, workshops, and conference presentations. My sessions are designed to be thoughtful, interactive, and accessible to writers and readers at many stages of their creative journey.

Possible Topics

Writing Strange Worlds: How environments—cities, ruins, colonies, forests—can function as characters in speculative fiction

Hidden Systems in Storytelling: Using institutions, bureaucracies, and unseen structures to build tension and theme

Crafting Atmosphere and Unease: Techniques for building subtle dread, melancholy, and psychological tension in fiction.

From Idea to Story: Turning speculative concepts into emotionally grounded narratives

The Weird and the Familiar: Blending science fiction, horror, and mystery to create unsettling worlds
